Nikki and James

What a great wedding.  These two were really fun and we were able to try some new stuff with them.  They not only were up for whatever, but the wedding party was very creative as well and had several ideas of their own.  Aside from mosquitoes and some rain.....things turned out beautifully.  Here are some of our favorite shots.  Congratulations Nikki and James!

Tar Heels Baseball

Today Ashley and I were able to take a nice relaxing break.  So we decided to take in a baseball game in the local Mid-Iowa Baseball League.  As is typical the cameras were in tow.  Below are a few shots we got.

Saydel Softball

Brian has been shooting some of the Saydel softball games lately.  We've compiled some of his best shots below.  As my philosophy goes, you can never have enough pictures of people taking pictures.  Brian will be having a larger role with Nuzum Photo starting immediately and as you can see he does great work.

Kate and Bubba

Kate and Bubba were the first of our two engagement shoot contest winners.  There location selection was Buxton Park in Indianola, IA.  We hadn't done a photo shoot at the park until Sunday.  The location was perfect.  The grounds are extremely well kept and we were able to catch some terrific shots.  Below are a select few.  Congratualtions to the first half of our contest winners, Kate and Bubba.

Jill and Michael

Saturday's wedding provided us our first oppurtunity to photograph a wedding at Smith Chapel in Indianola, IA.  Smith Chapel is set on the Simpson College campus and provides a beautiful back-drop for some amazing pictures.  The chapel itself has a great simple design with a balcony which provides us an eagle eye view of the ceremony.  Ashley was also able to photograph from the floor level in the back of the chapel providing an extra angle.  Below are a couple of our favorite shots.  Congratulations Jill and Michael.

Rusty and Heather

On Friday Brian and I shot a small wedding in Altoona, IA.  The couple were clearly in love and had a beatufiul wedding.  St. John and Paul is a great location for a wedding.  The church is very open with lots of natural light available.  Congratulations Rusty and Heather.

Angie and Brad

It was a great weekend and a beautiful wedding that not even a 500-year flood could stop.  Although travel around Des Moines, and the entire state of Iowa, was a bit tougher than usual, this wedding went off without a problem.  An energetic and enthusiastic wedding party made for some exciting pictures.  We took a ton and here are a few of the ones that we really enjoyed.  Congratulations Angie and Brad.

Erica and Stephan

This past weekend we were able to photograph an awesome outdoor wedding.  The wedding took place near Woodword, IA at Camp Matigwa.  The camp was beautiful and the view from the amphitheater was amazing.  The couple was a lot of fun and we got some amazing shots.  The weather was a bit warm, but with plenty of water we all made it through.  Congratulations Erica and Stephan.

Contest Winners

We have selected our two winners in the free engagement session contest.  The winners were chosen based on their location selection.  The winning locations were Buxton Garden in Indianola and a private acreage.  Both locations were excellent choices and the Buxton Garden location has specific meaning because the bride's parents had their engagement pictures taken there as well.  We look forward to getting both of these shoots scheduled so we can share the great shots.  Congratulations to both winners.

Sara and James

Another fantastic wedding this weekend.  We shot this wedding in Ankeny, IA.  The church was in the style of "in the round" so the ceremony took place in the middle of the church.  It was an interesting setup but made for easy picture taking.  The photos turned out great and here are a few of our favorites.  Congratulations Sara and James.

Being Nuzum Photo

Ashley and I have a great time doing weddings.  Each one is a unique series of events that lean on and rely on each other.  As the day progresses we find ourselves catching each other in the other's lens.  Here are a few shots from Sara and James wedding when we found ourselves in each other's lenses.  As well as a shot of Ashley giving a few pointers to a future photographer.
