Leanna and John

On the 17th, Ashley and I photographed Leanna and John's wedding in Pleasant Hill, IA.  The cool and windy weather kept us inside but we still got some great shots.  The families were all great to work with and the day went very smoothly.  Congratulations Leanna and John!

Walker Family Photos

Last week Ashley and I photographed family photos for the Walker Family.  We previously shot Kylie's senior photos and her immediate family photos.  This time we got the extended family together.  Everyone was great to work with and we had a good time.  Family photos that are shot in a family members home always have a personal feel and really give a warmth that you can't get anywhere else.

Our Favorite Five of 2008

Ashley and I have selected our favorite 5 photos from 2008.  These aren't our best and brightest and they might not even be in our top 100 for the year, but they are the photos that matter because they each have great stories. Here they are in no particular order...

1.  Amber and Pat - This image is so much fun because it has an intense depth to it.  The detail in the trees and the skies above give this photo a feeling that is hard to reproduce.  The road that is traveled can be winding, long, and stormy, but with someone you can trust at your side you can weather any storm.

2. Kristen and Ben - We like to do a lot of wedding party jump photos.  These always get the wedding party as well as the bride and groom to loosen up a bit and relax.  This one was easily the best of 2008.  Everyone was into it and got a lot of vertical leap.  The leg reactions were perfect.

3. Tina and Jason - Along the way we meet a lot of fun and interesting people.  Many times we will get a lot of questions about what cameras we use, what we recommend and other various photography related questions.  Everyone love photography and aspires to take great pictures themselves.  Here we met someone who was probably snapping more photos at the wedding then we were with her own camera, if I remember right it was a point and shoot digital.  So we thought we would give her the opportunity to photograph her dad on his big day using one of our cameras.  I hope that we have inspired a future photographer that someday we may work with on a project.

 4. Erica and Stephan - These two were married at a Boy Scout camp near Boone, IA.  The location was perfect and the day turned out to have great weather.  We were all a little wore out from the heat that day, but we took the rest we needed and made sure no one required any medical attention because of the heat.  When these two were together in photos you could tell they were meant to be together.  They had a presence together that created some of our favorite photos ever.  Passion, love, and a story to be told time and time again.

5. Angie and Brad - When you get married you are always married into the family.  The family of mom, dad, brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandma, grandpa, and the weird one in the back that no one claims.  (We all have one of those.)  You also marry into friends.  Brad was part of a fraternity and as such he was subject to some traditions on his wedding day.  The tradition may have one meaning, but what it says to someone looking at it is that you always have friends.  The journey is tough and trying but friends will be there to get you through.  Every one has a need for a support system and as you can see Brad's is full.

Simonson Family

This past Sunday Ashley and I got the opportunity to photograph some family photos for the Simonson family.  We had some fresh snow fall so we got outside and took some shots with a wintry back drop.  Even though it was chilly out, everyone had a good time including the girls...we got some great shots and below are a few of our favorites.

First Wedding of 2009! Kristin and Steven!

This year's first wedding came just a few days into it.  Kristin and Steven were married on January 3rd in Newton, IA.  It was a cool blustery day but everyone was in good spirits.  The bridal party were a lot fun to work with and since we couldn't get outside for any shots, we had some fun in the church.  Congratulations Kristin and Steven!

Heather and Dan

Blog catchup time.  We shot Heather and Dan's engagement session back in December.  We did some shots indoors and headed out.  The day was actually really nice out, but caused a lot of melting and was messy.  We had a great time and below are a few of our favorites.
