Harpoon Photo, and I photographed Kellie and Brian's wedding in Ames, IA. Most people are aware of the recent flooding that took place in Ames. As we can all understand, it caused some stress for our bride and groom. The reception was held at the Iowa State Alumni Center which just one week ago was lake front property to Squaw Creek Lake. No damage or much interruption to the wedding at all. Although, I did manage to get stuck on the wrong side of the tracks...literally. We ended up on the wrong side of a construction dead end. We could see the church on the other side of the train tracks, but had to back track around the tracks to get to it.
Kellie and Brian did a great job of planning for photos and allowing us plenty of opportunities and time to get some great shots. I was able to ride along on the party bus, which lacked air conditioning , and get some fun photos. I did however forget my water along the way. It was hot. We made stops at Moore Memorial Park, Lagomarcino Hall, and Sips(which you will have to ask the bride and groom about). We also stole some time to get shots at the Alumni Center.

Snus Hill Winery. Snus Hill Winery provided a beautiful backdrop for their reception. We also had the photo station outside at the reception allowing us to use mother nature as the backdrop for it. It was an amazing day.
Derek and Christine wanted more casual photos and not too many posed. We can definitely handle that. We would prefer to take less formals and more informal candids. AKA, the fun ones. So we spent a lot of time outside the church and at the winery taking candid formals.
I can't start to describe the love that these two share. I was in awe of the way the treated each other and the way the looked at one another. I made sure to tell them that before we left. It was simply beautiful. Congratulations Christine and Derek!

Brian and I photographed Emily and Kurtis's wedding on July 31. You may remember them from their engagement photos blog post. As far as wedding's go this one went amazingly smooth. Hiccups occur all the time, but these two did an awesome job planning and there was a ton of time for photos. We stopped at the Capital building downtown, as well as the old train depot, and in downtown Des Moines. I think at some point in there we made a stop at Hessen Haus as well.
